Born in Granada in 1972 to a dynasty of flamenco dancers known as Los Maya, nephew of Mario Maya and Manuel Santiago Maya gManoleteh.

At the age of 12 he was performing in the caves of Sacromonte.
In 1987, at the age of 14, he performed in Cairo for a fortnight.

 

In 1989 he choreographed the production of gPasionh, a flamenco show, which premiered in Granada.

In 1990 he joined the cast of gCafé Chinitash in Madrid and traveled with the show to Chicago (US).

During this same year, he performed in the premiere of the production gFlamenco Contemporaneoh and in the VI Bienal de Flamenco in Seville.

In 1992 he performed in gContrastesh at EXPO f92, in the program gyoung values of the XXI centuryh, directed by Miguel Bose.

In 1995 he performed alongside Carmen Linares on a tour of Jordan and Tunis.

In 1996 he was invited by the King and Queen of Spain to perform in Carmen de los Chapiteles.  This same year he collaborated on the show gCautivoh together with Manolete and Beatriz Martin, at the premiere which took place in the Alhambra.  He also performed in the production gEl Amor Brujoh taking the lead role.

 

Maya also worked in New York in the Lincoln Center and made tours of Holland and Japan.  In September he presented his new work gRaicesh, sponsored by the Duchess of Alba.

 

In 1997 he performed alongside Antonio Canales in the show gGuernikah and later worked with the Live Flamenco company in New York collaborating on a tribute to Garcia Lorca.

 

In 1998 he took his show gGitanos de Sacromonteh to the Café Chinitas in Tokyo.  In the same year he was invited by the King and Queen of Spain to celebrate Queen Sofiafs birthday in the Zarzuela palace.

 

In 1999 he produced his own show in Madrid and again in Tokyo in 2000.

 

Currently he is touring various European cities with the Paco Peña Company.
